Our 2024 season of Friday Bowls is now over. We would like to thank our members who volunteered their time, for the effort they put in over the last 5 months in keeping these efforts happening. Thanks also to those players from around the district who bowled in these events and enjoyed the use of our new greens.

Names in by 12 noon. Play starts at 12:30 p.m.

Terang Bowls Club hosts a Winter Bowls Competition held each Friday starting at 12:30 p.m.

NEW Players  are welcome to come and try – no experience necessary – bowls can be provided. Cost $5 on the day. Contact the club through our FaceBook page for more details.

This is a GREAT social competition and a good way to learn the art of LAWN BOWLING with the assistance of experienced bowlers.

August

Great number of bowlers played in our 1st Friday bowls event for August. Wonderful to see a few new faces trying out the greens. Looks like it should be another good day this Friday. New bowlers welcome to come and try.

We had several successful bowls events during July with only one week being washed out. Thanks to Noel and his team for organising these events.

20 players again this week. Good to have some new faces trying out our new “B Green”

Players from Camperdown, Cobden, Mortlake and Terang enjoyed the pleasant conditions.

19/4/2024

20 players took part in our 1st event for this season. Players were pleasantly surprised with the new playing surface on B Green and quickly adapted to the conditions. Thanks to Dan and team for organising.

Our 2024 season kicks off on Friday the 19th April. At this stage we will play all games on B Green. Numbers will dictate what event we play – Pairs, Triples or 4s.

2023

April 2023 – We have had 2 events with a number of players taking part and enjoying the days’ play. Our 1st day saw 14 players take part and last Friday there were 25 players on the greens. It is terrific to have a number of players from surrounding clubs supporting our Friday event. Cobden Bowls Club hold a similar event every Wednesday (Contact Cobden BC for details)

Our next event is this Friday (28/4/2023) and we hope to see a few more players come and enjoy a great afternoon of bowls.

16/9/2022

Our final event for this season, saw Graeme Downie, John Keane and Leon Carragan have 3 good wins. Our Aug/Sept aggregate winners were Peter Templeton and Filumena Gherashe.

2/9/2022

24 players from Terang, Camperdown,and Cobden arrived for an enjoyable day of social bowls. A wintery 🌞 encouraged a close competition all round with no team winning all 3 of their games. Our runners up with 2 wins and a draw on 64 points were Roslyn Ross and Dawn Hilton. The overall winners of the day, also with 2 wins and a draw, but on 68 points were Noel Uebergang, Filumena Gherashe, and John Keane. Many thanks to our generous donors for their contribution towards our weekly raffle. Thanks also to Hendo and Noel for their assistance in the office and on the greens, and to Eric for his attendance behind the bar. A big shout out to the ladies who dedicate their time to clean up  every week.

A great turn out this week with 26 players from Cobden, Camperdown, and Terang turning up to enjoy 3 games of bowls.   Don Anderson, John Keane and Eric Hansford, were runners up to Paul Richards and Leon Carragan, who won all 3 games. Thanks to our organisers and helpers on the day, Noel, Eric, Filumena, Hendo and Ros.

19/8/2022

This week we had 16 players from Cobden, Camperdown, and Terang turn up to enjoy a pleasant afternoon of bowling. The pace of the greens and  windy conditions proved a little tricky for some bowlers.  Peter Templeton and Ray Burke, with 3 wins and  84 points,  thought they had done enough to win the day, however Graeme Downie and Patsy Neal managed to disappoint them by winning more ends, and with 92 points and 3 wins took out the event. Thanks to our organisers and helpers on the day, Noel, Eric and Ros.

19 players from Cobden, Camperdown, and Terang turned up to enjoy a mild winters day of bowling. Smoothly running greens ensured a close competition with no teams winning all 3 of their matches. Our runners up on 66 points and with 14 shots up were Peter Templeton, Donnie Anderson, and Dawn Hilton. The overall winners of the day on 70 points were Trevor Roberts and Betty Johnson.

Todays “Whiskey” fund (sponsored by Crawleys Hotel) was won by Leon Carrigan. The meat tray (Robbo’s Country Cuts)  was won by Paul Grayland and the sweets by John Carlin. The wine was won by Des Hilton, Bill Noy, Darren Hendriksen, Bert Strampel, Daryl O’Donohue, and Greg Wynd. A big thank you to those who donated the produce towards our raffles. Thanks to Hendo who was a terrific help in the office, and to Ron Mills for attending the bar.

Robbos Country Cuts

8/7/2022

16 people from Cobden, Camperdown, and Terang braved the gloomy weather forecast. The drizzle finally cleared up for the final game allowing our competitors to enjoy the wintry sun. Recent work on the greens ensured that the bowls were running true  The runners up with 2 games and on 68 points were John Gherashe and Justin Rasmussen. With 3 games under their belts and sitting on a comfortable 94 points, the winners were Bert Strampel and Ken Farquharson.  The “Robbo’s Country Cuts” meat tray was won by Ron Cameron again. Big thanks to Daryl for his generous donations. Winning the wine bottles were Noel Uebergang, Hendo, Jack O’Neil, Harmony Rasmussen, and Trevor Roberts. Daryl O’Donohue won the sweets basket and promptly gifted it to Heather Lynam.  Many thanks to Heather for her help in the kitchen, and to Noel for his assistance with the greens.

24 bowlers from Cobden, Camperdown, and Terang turned up for bowls. The sun decided to grace us with its presence during the closing stages of the competition. Only one team won all 3 games.
The runners up with 2 games and 72 points were Daryl and Ken. With 3 victories and 90 points, today’s winners were Terry and Ray.

The “Robbo’s Country Cuts” meat tray was won by Alec Bell.

Our June/July Aggregate points competition is now underway – points are awarded each week and over the 2 months, the more you pay the greater your chance of winning.

36 players from Terang, Cobden and Camperdown took part in this week’s event in beautiful Autumn conditions.  Both A and B greens were used and provided for some great bowling.

Winners on the day were Bert Strampel and Eric Hansford, who won all 3 games . Jenny Fowler and Jack O’Neill were 2nd with 2 wins and a draw and Dan Morrison and Ken Davey were 3rd also having 2 wins and a draw.

24 players from Terang, Cobden and Camperdown took part in this week’s event. Again it was great to see some new entrants into our competition and there were some very close matches. Greens proved to be a bit tricky and sticky requiring bowlers to adjust their line.

 31 players from Terang, Cobden and Camperdown took to the greens this week. It was terrific to see a large number of new players take part and enjoy an afternoon of bowls and a social drink after the game. Both greens were running well, and with pleasant conditions we saw some excellent bowls.

We had  18 bowlers compete in our Friday Pairs competition.

Conditions were terrific and bowlers enjoyed the warmer weather.

A threatening winter’s day saw 24  players,  from Terang, Cobden, Camperdown and Deer Park take to the greens.  Rain interrupted play during the 2nd match and eventually the competition had to be called off.

Winners on the day were Heather Lynam and Kevin Johnson, with 2 wins and a draw.

After 4 rounds, Daryl O’Donohue leads the June/July aggregate competition with 28 points followed by Willy VanKempen and Leon Carragan who are both on 26 points.

A pleasant winter’s day saw 18  players,  from Terang, Cobden and Camperdown take to the greens. Uninterrupted play saw all teams complete their 3 games.

Competition was tight with several teams recording drawn games. Winners on the day were Eric Hansford and Daryl O’Donohue, with 2 wins and a draw.

After 3 rounds, Willy VanKempen leads the June/July aggregate competition with 21 points followed by Daryl O’Donohue and Leon Carragan who are both on 20 points.

 A wintry afternoon saw 23, rugged up, players,  from Terang, Cobden and Camperdown take to the greens. Bowlers were able to adapt to the ever changing conditions and managed to complete all 3 games.

Glorious late  Autumn weather enticed 47 players from Terang, Cobden, Camperdown and South Australia onto the greens for this week’s competition. It was great to see a number of 1st time bowlers turn up for the day. Conditions were perfect and there was some excellent bowling.

A Cut Above

Wintry conditions saw 16 players from Terang, Cobden and Camperdown take to the greens for this week’s competition. Bowlers handled the ever changing conditions well and some excellent bowling was witnessed.

Winners on the day were Geoff Works and Leon Carrangan winning 2 out of their 3 games.
