Hi All,

Thanks to those who turned up for the working bee, we are now ready for the Corporate Challenge.

BBQ refurbishment – Thanks to Bob and Hendo who have started work on the BBQ area. A working bee is organised for this Sunday (10/1/2021) at 1 p.m. to ready the club for the Corporate Challenge.

What’s been happening in November (2020)- Well your, OUT and ABOUT reporter has been on the job.

Some disTigerscussion, on adopting the Tiger mascot for our club – generally favourable, esp. from our retiring President and other one eyed Tiger fans –  one member has been vocal in their opposition, a pity their complaint came in to late to be considered.

A couple more birds to add to the list of birds found near the club. The Purple crowned lorikeet and ibis, I’ve seen and heard sulphur crested and yellow tail cockatoos – but no photos yet.

Plenty of gardening happening. Roses have put on a beautiful display – well done Harry on looking after the club roses, if you’re talking to Harry about the roses, please don’t mention aphids.

I know a number of our members take a lot of pride in their vegetable patch. So send in photos to share.

Here are a few  I found in a local backyard. The up graded rhubarb patch – Tilly and Bessie are pleased with the result and have been happily laying eggs.

They have been banned from the potatoes and corn, which they seem to be attracted to, especially for scratching.

Beware the TIGER.

Spotted prowling in the local area and at the GABBA, beware the TIGER – We are very HAPPY in TIGER LAND after an awesome display on the footy ground.

Could this be our new Terang Bowls Club mascot??  The TERANG TIGERS has a great ring to it.

If you’re looking for something to do, how about a walk on the golf course or walking track. Lots of bird life within a short distance from the club. I see there’s something happening near the Croquet Club. (Watch this space.)

A couple of rare visitors to the area were spotted on the golf course. A pair of plumed whistling ducks, not usually found this far south. It was also reported that there were 4 of these birds sited in Ballarat a few days ago. Could we be in for a wet season???Plumed Whistling Duck

New additions this week include a kookaburra, noisy minor and mud lark. Also a few of the flowers that are out at the moment. The rainbow lorikeet makes a 2nd appearance and the nest of a mud lark.

I’ve also heard that you need to be on the lookout for Wally (Where’s Wally) who is popping up around the walking track, thanks to Terang College students.

An up date on some of our feather friends. I’ve managed to tick off a few more from around the golf course and lake.

Take care everyone, hope to see you on the greens soon.

Out and about this week. Lots of bird life within a short distance from the club. Some that I’ve spotted in the last week are pictured below. (Haven’t managed to take pictures of the butcher birds, kookaburras, rainbow lorikeet and several varieties of ducks.)

I’ve reluctantly included a photo of some magpies (they are nesting at the moment)

Hope everyone is well and keeping active – good to see members practising..
